What does it mean to stay in a B&B? What is it like to stay in a B&B?
In general, a bed and breakfast is technically a private home that offers rooms for rent to people traveling through the area. The concept has expanded somewhat. A true B&B is still a private home, but the rooms may be more than one would expect to find in a typical home. In the case of the Astor House, there are many amenities in the guest rooms such as whirlpool tubs and fireplaces as well as high speed internet access. Yet, the owners of the home live on site.
Each B&B is unique and the experience of your stay will be a little different depending upon the B&B. Most, if not all Wisconsin B&Bs strive to provide a high level of comfort and hospitality to the B&B guest. The level of amenities and other conveniences may vary from property to property. However, the constant should be the high level of customer care and attention to detail as well as a true concern for helping the guest to feel at home.
At the Astor House, you may be surprised at the amount of privacy you have as a guest. You will rarely be aware of the presence of other guests even when we are full. Since you have the option of having breakfast in your room, you may not see another guest until it is time to check out.
Do you have Packer tickets available?
We wish.

The Astor House is located in a neighborhood of historic homes. Guests enjoy walking the streets of this neighborhood where they have an opportunity to see some of the other wonderfully restored historic homes that date back to the late 1800s.
About two blocks from the Astor House is the Fox River Trail, a thirteen mile hiking and biking trail that runs along the Fox River. You can take the trail either into the downtown area or out to some of the outlying communities. The trail has become one of the most active trails in the state and it is just steps away from the Astor House.
How close are you to area hospitals?
We are walking distance to both St. Vincent and Bellin Hospitals. The Astor House is great place to stay if you are visiting a loved one in either of these hospitals. An a historical note, the Astor House was once the home of Dr. Julius Bellin of the hospital and nursing school that bear his name.
Do you serve a full breakfast?
It depends on how one defines a full breakfast. Our breakfast offerings are substantial, but we do not offer eggs, sausage or pancakes. Our Continental Plus breakfast includes a prepared fruit item, a muffin or bagel, and a filled specialty bread that changes from day to day. We also offer coffee, three different varieties of tea, orange juice and skim milk.
A word about the coffee. Your innkeepers love a great cup of coffee. We are committed to serving the same to our guests. Each pot of coffee is individually brewed for each breakfast from fresh ground beans with filtered water. The coffee is served to you moments after it is brewed. You won’t experience coffee here that has been sitting on a hot plate or in a carafe for a long period of time. We obtain our beans from area roasters where we buy it in small batches to assure freshness. If you love good coffee, whether regular or decaf, you will be glad that you decided to stay at the Astor House.
Can I have breakfast in my room?
It is possible to have breakfast delivered to your door in a basket. Upon check in you will be given a menu from which you can select breakfast items and indicate whether you would prefer to have breakfast in our parlor, in your room or on the front porch (weather permitting).
I want to stay for my wedding night but we won’t be able to arrive until very late. Can you accommodate us?
Many couples choose to spend their wedding night at the Astor House and we love to be a part of the start of a new marriage. Since couples usually arrive late at night after their reception, we make arrangements to provide you with a key so you can let yourself in rather than waking up the innkeeper.
Where do I park when I stay at the Astor House?
We have off street parking at the house to accommodate one vehicle
per guestroom. If you happen to be bringing two cars, it helps to call us ahead
of time so that we can plan for the second vehicle.
